Biography:
As an artist Daniel Perry has a complex practice that encompasses a wide range of disciplines including fine art, printmaking, design and illustration. Having first studied at Central St.Martins College of Art, he followed this with a further two years study at the Royal College of Art (89-91) where he combined illustration with painting under Professor Dan Fern.
From London, Perry left England in 1991 to visit Scandinavia. What was intended to be an initial three day visit to Sweden extended to last for many years – the country and his experiences there and in neighbouring Denmark have deeply affected both the artist and his resulting practice.
Combining interests in both Fine and Commercial Art, Perry has worked in many visual disciplines. Whilst at the Royal College for instance he spent time in Berlin in ‘89 creating an artwork on the Berlin Wall. This led to an avid interest in the use of graffiti which then led him to spend time in Brooklyn, New York. This interest has continued to the present day and influences of this can be seen in this recent work.
As well as exhibiting and selling work nationally and internationally through the gallery system, Perry has also been engaged on many commercial projects – along with an established freelance graphic and illustration practice, he has created large scale murals, has worked in theatre, designing and building sets, interior design for cruise ships and is currently developing a new business around his unique card designs, packaged together under the umbrella title Studio Picture Cards.
